  1. Hi - Found your blog via Oriental Music blog's reference. Great work you are doing here by preserving rare, valuable ethnic music. Also, many thanks for sharing high quality audio....
    Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks for for your comment and encouragements. I'm utterly delighted to find people interested in all these great musics. Traditional music barely exists as a genre on the market and is not mapped out at all. And modernising traditional cultures tend to want to forget about their past in a hurry. One day that will probably change. Lets all keep these great musics, and our ears, alive.

  2. A very beautiful recording. Midas had released it later also on CD and also 3RP Music in the US published it under license in 1999. The label existed only for 2 or 3 years. I have that CD. In your track 2 at about 9 minutes a second peace starts: Thumri in Mishra Shivaranjani. The accompanists are Sabri Khan on Sarangi and Dayam Ali Qadri on Tabla.

    1. Dear Tawfiq,
You're the first person I meet who knows this recording. But it shouldn't surprise anyone coming from someone with such in-depth knowledge and understanding of North Indian music.
Regarding the Bundu Khan matter we mentioned earlier, I'll have to see if I have traces and references of the recordings I was referring to so you can enlighten me.
Thank you for your spirit and generosity.

  3. Delightful! Thanks! I remember when her Nimbus CD came out. I was working at a local newspaper as a music journalist and Nimbus would send me as many CDs as I liked, as long I reviewed a reasonable number of them. I was just discovering Indian classical music at that time (around 1989). I've never seen this cassette and now I am excited to hear it!

  5. I have just made Discogs entries for the two CD's (taken from the Midas releases) which were reissued on the 3RP label. If you have further details of the cassette numbers, release dates etc of the original releases, please let me know so I can update the Discogs entries.

  6. Dear Louis,
A very good initiative on your part to put this great recording on the map. I unfortunately have no further information. Tawfiq (Oriental Traditional Music) might know something more though (date, etc.).
