Following our two posts of Javanese court music (here and here), we now present another gorgeous gamelan album recorded in Sukarata, Central Java, in 1963.
Spacy circular music with an otherworldly aura, featuring the deep, lingering sounds of interwoven gamelan clusters, delicate ghostlike female voices, and the stark, abstract sonorities of a bowed rebab violin.
Suite à nos deux posts précédents sur la musique de cour javanaise (ici et ici), nous présentons maintenant un autre album magnifique de gamelans enregistré à Sukarata, Java central, en 1963.
Une musique circulaire avec une aura surnaturelle, faite de sonorités profondes de gamelans entrelacés, comme suspendues dans l’espace, de voix féminines délicates et évanescentes, et d'un violon à archet rabab caverneux et abstrait.
