Following our presentation of the formidable singer Hirabai Barodekar (1905-1989) in a previous post (HMV 7 EPE 1205), we now present her in a riveting jugalbandi (literally translated as ‘entwined twins’) duet with her younger sister Saraswati Rane (1913-2006). The two daughters of Abdul Kareem Khan (1872-1937), the founder of Kirana Gharana, weave illuminating circular flights that radiate balance, depth, and imagination. They are accompanied here by Narayanrao Indorkar on tabla.

    1. I unfortunately don't know this artist at all. Just looked at Discogs and found one LP and a 45. He looks pretty much off the radar. If any of our friend has a recording, I would be delighted to post it.
