We now share a second release by the great Cheikha Rimitti (1923-2006),
featuring her deep bluesy singing accompanied by Guellal drum, Gasba reed
flute and bursts of ululation, which convey a traditional texture deeply rooted in Bedouin music.
Side A – Ya Hlima: Rimitti blames Hlima (a woman) for being apprehended by the gendarmes.
Side B – Ehdi Salra: Rimitti narrates the story of a thoughtful and angry woman in love with a man, but can’t manage the situation.

Face A – Ya Hlima: Cheikha Rimitti reproche à Hlima
d’avoir été embarquée par les gendarmes.
Face B – Ehdi Salra: Cheikha Rimitti raconte
