This anthology of Azeri music, played in Azerbaijan
and in the Azerbaijan province of Iran, presents a rich musical tradition
featuring various traditional instruments, including the tar, a long-necked
fretted lute, played by Bahram Mansurov (1911-1985) (A1, A2); Arzan Dadashev
playing ud (arabic lute) (A3); the vocals of Khan Shushinsky (1901-1979) accompanied
by an orchestra (B1), the kamanje (or
kamanche), an Iranian bowed string
instrument, played by Abil Aliyev (1927-2015) (B2); Amrah Gyalma singing and
playing the saz (a long fretted lute)
(B3) in the Ashug, or Ashiq, traveling bard tradition, which
plays a central role in the Azerbaijani cultural and poetic identity;
the double-reed zurna and nagara drums to accompany dancing (B4);
and Bahruz Zeinalov playing the double-reed duduk (B5).
Cette anthologie de la musique azérie, jouée en Azerbaïdjan et dans la province de l'Azerbaïdjan en Iran, présente une riche tradition musicale comprenant divers instruments traditionnels, y compris le luth tar joué par Bahram Mansurov (1911-1985) (A1, A2); Arzan Dadashev sur le oud (luth arabe) (A3); la voix de Khan Shushinsky (1901-1979) accompagné par un orchestre (B1), le kamanje (ou kamanche), une vièle à archet d'origine persane jouée par Abil Aliyev (1927-2015) (B2); Amrah Gyalma chantant et jouant du luth saz (B3) dans la tradition des bardes Ashiq qui ont un rôle central dans l'identité culturelle et poétique azerbaïdjanaise; un hautbois zurna et des tambours nagara pour accompagner une danse héroïque (B4); et Bahruz Zeinalov jouant du duduk (ou doudouk) à anche double (B5).
